We’re a family owned business that has been baking breads and making European pastries for over a decade in the city of Toronto. Our first location, at Bloor St, West brought a little taste of home to the established Portuguese community in the area.

In April 2012, Patricia Brandao and Alcides Laundos open Golden Wheat’s second location on 579 Rogers Road. As well, this new bakery & cafe, is catered to the general public and is open seven days a week from 4:30am to 10:30pm with a seating capacity of 40 inside and 30 people on our new patio. Please fell free to visit us.

This place is a great little bakery to pick out a bunch of yummy Portuguese/ Italian pastries, have a hot drink, and sit outside and people-watch on the edge of Little Italy. The prices are cheap; the service is quick and attentive by young ladies. You can also order sandwiches, and/or eat inside and take advantage of the free WiFi ....

Stumbled upon this little bakery walking around Rogers Road as we were cold and needed a snack. Great pastries, well priced and friendly service. My husband and I each had a coffee, couple pastries and purchased 7 tarts to take home and the bill came to $17!  The custard tarts are delicious, will need to come back to get more and try their grilled cheese sandwich next time!

After having tried several of their pastries, I'm compelled to up my rating. It's a Portuguese bakery and the pastries are quite unique and delicious. I've never paid more than 2 bucks for a pastry here. They have a different variety every day. They also have a sandwich menu, with most running within a price range of 2-4 bucks.  They're open till 10 am every day.

Grilled cheese. The holy grail of sandwiches. Simply mention that a certain place makes a mean grilled cheese and I'm there. The grilled cheese at Golden Wheat is the only thing I've eaten there. I guess I need to go back and try something else. But really the grilled cheese is fantastic. Made with a crispy bun roll type thing and a nice hard but not to strong cheese and grilled panini style. Yeah I know. Your mouth is watering.  Oh.... and it's inexpensive .... Great job Golden Wheat. Great job.  * But really I'll go back and try some other stuff soon!

A few friends and I wondered into the Golden Wheat after learning that they provide the delicious bread. The spacious bakery dabbles in everything from breads to all things custard, and is managed by some very friendly people. The large container of caramel flan for $6 was too good a deal to pass up, and our group of 4 enjoyed generous portions of the delicious desert with quite a bit leftover. Overall Goden Wheat wins thanks to its great value and tasty flan. I'll be back when I have the cravings.

Their coffees are always done properly and delicious. The desserts and bread are always fresh. They always have hot fresh bread in the morning and throughout the day! Super sweet staff and great customer service!
